One of the easiest ways to get crafty and creative in your wedding is with the bridesmaids and flower girls. The ladies in my bridal party are all big fans of getting dressed up and fancy, of sporting something unique to them, and of having fun with their outfits.
With that in mind, we’re doing a few different things with the female side of the bridal party.
First off, I’m letting them each choose their own dresses. All I’ve asked of my bridesmaids is that they pick a dress that’s knee-length and black. Admittedly, I stole the idea completely from a friend who got married this past November. She did the same thing, and the bridal party all looked super classy! And bonus for my girls? Several of them were in that wedding as well, so they can say they’ve already gotten their dress!
To spice up the crafty quotient on the bridesmaids, we’re doing several things. First, there’s their bouquets, which will all be handmade (as covered in *this* post). But I’m not stopping there! My mom is a beading fool, and so we picked out some great baubles that she’s making into necklaces. Each will be unique to the woman, and each will be something she can wear again and again!
For my personal attendant and my people-wrangler –slash- day of time keeper (because I’m super high-maintenance like that!) I’m crocheting *these* scarves in green (one of our wedding colors). This way they’ll match the bridal party, but as they won’t be standing up with us, they can keep a bit warmer if necessary.
The flower girls will be wearing green dresses instead of white, because I know my future nieces. They’ve got little sweaters to wear, and pretty bows to tie around their waists, but I wanted them to also feel comfy and not have to worry about getting their dresses dirty.
